This is an accurate reproduction of a flintlock rifle built by John Armstrong of Emmitsburg, MD, in the early 1800's. The silver eagle, inlaid on the cheek piece, is a typical Armstrong characteristic. His inlays and carvings were exceptional and he favored large patch boxes. His toe plates were often pierced with hearts, allowing the curly maple of the stock to show through. Armstrong rifles are justly renowned and this is a faithful reproduction, exact and exquisite in every detail.
